Partner Richard E. Smith to Serve on 2026 IADC Trial Academy Faculty

Christian & Small is pleased to share that Partner Richard E. Smithwill serve on the faculty of the International Association of Defense Counsel (IADC) 2026 Trial Academy, held at the University of South Carolina Joseph F. Rice School of Law, August 1-7. The Trial Academy is a weeklong, intensive program that combines small-group faculty instruction and demonstration with individual student participation. It is the preeminent defense trial advocacy training program. The IADC faculty bring extensive experience and expertise from leading civil defense firms across the country, providing students with trial experience without the risks of trial.
The core purpose of IADC is to enhance the development of skills, professionalism, and camaraderie to serve and benefit its members, their clients, the civil justice system, and the legal profession. IADC membership comprises the world's leading corporate and insurance lawyers and executives. IADC activities benefit its 2,500 invitation-only, peer-reviewed members and their clients. IADC takes a leadership role in many areas of legal reform and professional development.
RichardE. Smith is a founding partner and an integral part of the firm's litigation group. His practice focuses primarily on complex and corporate litigation for clients in the financial services, health care, and construction industries, as well as corporate entities in other industries. Richard has tried over 175 jury trials to verdict in more than 30 Alabama counties and all three Alabama federal district courts.
