Christian & Small Partner Jonathan W.  Macklem recently attended the 3rd Annual Leadership Council on Legal Diversity’s (LCLD) Fellows Alumni Conference in Miami from May 16-18, 2014. The conference provided a long weekend of various professional enrichment opportunities, including Best Practices and Trends within Legal Departments, Effective Ways to Manage Litigation Budgets, Alternative Fee Arrangements, Effective Management and Ways to Progress with Corporations, Effective Communication with General Counsel, C-Suite Executives and Outside Counsel, and Managing the RFP Process.
Macklem, Jonathan -BW-1_edited-1Inaugurated in 2011, the LCLD Fellows Program now numbers more than 430 Fellows, and Macklem was selected for its 2013 Fellows Class. The program is a dynamic, year-long leadership training course designed to elevate the career trajectories of high-potential attorneys from LCLD Member organizations and increase diversity at the leadership levels of the nation’s law firms and corporate legal departments. The program focuses on acutely developing key competencies, professional branding, relationship building and transformational leadership while simultaneously exposing Fellows to preeminent leaders in the legal field.
Christian & Small was the first Alabama firm to join the LCLD and remains the only Alabama-based law firm to be a member of the organization. Macklem joins Christian & Small Managing Partner Deborah Alley Smith and Partners Kenneth O. Simon and Michael A. Vercher, all of whom are actively involved with the LCLD.
