Shauncey Hunter Ridgeway

Shauncey Hunter Ridgeway is a Partner in Christian & Small’s Jackson, Mississippi, office, located in the heart of the Historic Fondren District. Her practice encompasses civil litigation, including insurance, bankruptcy, commercial, and probate matters, as well as estate and business succession planning. Shauncey is a proud Louisiana native.

Shauncey’s practice spans the tri-state area of MS, LA, and AL. Her litigation work includes representing individuals, insurance companies, financial institutions, businesses, academic institutions, and other clients in matters involving insurance coverage and bad-faith claims, creditors’ rights and bankruptcy, auto accidents, contracts, real and personal property rights, professional liability, premises liability, employment discrimination, and other commercial disputes. Her estate planning and probate practice is complemented by more than a decade of litigation and dispute-resolution experience. She represents clients in contested probate and estate matters and brings substantial experience evaluating complex factual and legal issues, developing litigation strategy, negotiating resolutions, and advocating for clients in state and federal courts at both the trial and appellate levels.

Shauncey takes a practical, client-centered approach to both litigation and planning. Whether defending insureds against claims, defending insurers’ coverage positions, helping families establish estate plans, guiding fiduciaries and beneficiaries through estate administration, advising business owners on succession planning, or resolving contested matters, she strives to provide thoughtful, value-driven counsel tailored to each client’s circumstances and objectives.

Shauncey works with individuals and families on estate planning and administration matters, including preparing and revising wills, trusts, powers of attorney, and advanced health care directives; petitioning for heirship determinations; interpleading beneficiary funds; and administering estates. She also advises clients on business succession and charitable giving planning, emphasizing practical strategies that reflect each client’s family, financial, and long-term objectives. She is currently pursuing an LL.M. in Estate Planning and Elder Law at Western New England University to better serve her clients’ needs and collaborate effectively with financial planners and donor recipients.

Shauncey devoted six years to coaching Mississippi Christian University School of Law’s award-winning moot court teams in the American Bankruptcy Institute’s National Duberstein Moot Court Competition and the State Bar of Texas Bankruptcy Section’s Elliott Cup Competition. She also devotes time to delivering estate planning presentations and participating in community seminars. Outside of her practice, Shauncey enjoys attending Word of Life Church, volunteering with the Jackson Junior League, spending time with family and friends, reading a good book, cheering on the LSU Tigers, and walking her two corgis, Welshi and Winston.
