Governor Kay Ivey Issues Letter Urging Small Business Owners to Quickly Apply for Federal Stimulus Dollars in Response to Covid-19 Business Disruption
April 2, 2020.

Alabama Governor Kay Ivey issued a letter to Alabama’s small business community urging owners to quickly apply for federal stimulus dollars in the wake of wide-spread business disruption. Stating, “You can’t afford to wait to prepare,” Governor Ivey encourages small business owners to contact their financial institution,  accountant, or attorney to learn who is eligible and how best to apply. If you need help applying for assistance, please contact a Christian & Small attorney. Applications under the Payroll Protection Program are being accepted beginning April 3, 2020, so it is urgent that you begin the process immediately.

The Paycheck Protection Program provides assistance to small businesses, and eligible nonprofit organizations, Veteran’s organizations, and Tribal businesses described in the Small Business Act, as well as individuals who are self-employed or are independent contractors.

The U.S. Treasury Department’s website provides specific information regarding the resources being made available including initial guidance.
