Alabama is set to find out Thursday, February 2 with 24 hours of charity in the first ever
Alabama Gives Day. According John Stone, president and CEO of the Alabama Association of Nonprofits, “There have been 10 similar efforts in other states and Alabama is one of the top five most philanthropic states in the country. We felt like the time had come to do one here.”
Alabama Gives Day begins at 12 a.m. Thursday morning and ends at 11:59 p.m. Thursday evening. More than 800 nonprofit groups have registered. The goal is to raise money, increase public awareness of nonprofit groups, promote the ease and safety of online giving, develop new donors and provide nonprofits with an online giving platform they can use all year.
