Christian & Small is pleased to welcome William R. “Will” Philpot as the newest associate in the firm’s Birmingham office. Will’s practice focuses on civil litigation, including insurance defense, construction, product liability, and premises and general liability. He assists in all phases of the litigation process, from initial case assessment through trial and appeal.
A Birmingham native, Will graduated magna cum laude from Auburn University in 2021, where he served as Chi Chapter President of the Theta Chi Fraternity, Chair of the Interfraternity Council (IFC) Court Justice, was a Senior Student and Athletic Recruiter, and member of the IFC Chapter of Presidents. He went on the earn his Juris Doctorate from Samford University’s Cumberland School of Law in 2025 where he continued to lead as Senior Class President and Lead Admissions Ambassador.
Will shared that serving as an IFC Court Justice initially sparked his interest in the law. As president of his fraternity and as IFC Court Justice, Will had the chance to experience various aspects of the legal process, including interviews, discovery, and court proceedings from both sides of the table—defending the fraternity and sometimes interviewing other fraternities to determine what actions had occurred.
Before joining Christian & Small, Will clerked at several firms, including a summer internship with Christian & Small. He gained exposure to civil defense, which sparked his interest in trucking and insurance defense.
