Founding Partner Sharon D. Stuart received the J. Anthony “Tony” McLain Professionalism Award at the 148th Alabama State Bar (ASB) Annual Meeting in July. This award honors outstanding, long-term, and distinguished service in promoting professionalism among current members of the Alabama State Bar. The selection is made by a five-member committee, which then recommends to the Bar Commissioner’s Board for approval.
The majority of Sharon’s career has been dedicated to these ideals. She has held leadership and mentorship roles in numerous organizations, including Alabama Defense Lawyers Association, the Alabama State Bar, Alabama Supreme Court Standing Committee on the Rules of Civil Procedure, Attorneys Insurance Mutual of the South, American Inns of Court, Bench and Bar Advisory Committee of the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Alabama, Birmingham Bar Association, Christian & Small Executive Committee, International Association of Defense Counsel, Federation of Defense and Corporate Counsel, DRI, Samford University Board of Trustees, and Cumberland School of Law. Sharon is a frequent speaker on professional ethics and is regularly recognized by her industry peers, including acknowledgments in Chambers, Best Lawyers in America, and Benchmark Litigation.
Sharon dedicates her practice to civil trial work and arbitration. She specializes in complex commercial and insurance litigation, handling various pharmaceutical and medical device product liability cases as national, regional, or local counsel. Sharon’s trial experience includes a wide range of business tort claims, contract disputes, commercial and insurance fraud, bad faith lawsuits, and wrongful death cases. She has defended numerous class action lawsuits across different areas, such as product liability/toxic tort, financial products, insurance, and employment law.
