Fifteen students, enrolled in the first Higher Achievement Summer School, celebrated the completion of their four-week intensive academic bootcamp on Thursday, June 30, 2011 at Indian Springs School.

The students shared lunch and presentations with teachers, friends and supporters. After a day of presentations, the students enjoyed a picnic supper, swimming and a movie in the park.

HASS ED, Justin Younker and Will Thuston, C&S Associate

Christian & Small partnered with Teach for America and specifically, with the Teach for America teachers in Sumter County, Alabama. Will and Justin Younkers, 8th grade English teacher in Sumter County and a first year corps member for Teach for America, first began working together and planning for the first HASS class in December of 2010 – a little more than six months ago.
