Christian & Small is proud to announce that founding partner Sharon D. Stuart was elected President of the Birmingham Bar Association at their annual meeting held Friday, December 8. Sharon has a long and rich history with the BBA holding numerous leadership positions including a three-year term on the Executive Committee; Court Liaison Committee; Chair, Long Range Planning Committee; Chair, Civil Courts Procedures Committee; Public Service Committee; Chair, Ethics Committee; Grievance Committee Young Lawyers Representative; Mentor, Women’s Section Mentoring Program; Member, Women’s Section; and Presenter at numerous BBA CLA seminars. Additionally, Stuart serves as President and Claims Counsel of Attorneys Insurance Mutual of the South, Alabama’s bar-related malpractice insurer, served as president of the Alabama Defense Lawyers Association, and is active with the Alabama State Bar.
Through her presidency with the Birmingham Bar Association, Stuart plans to engage in strategic planning, prepare the Association to celebrate its 140th anniversary in 2025, and carry forward the Students Today | Lawyers Tomorrow program initiated by Immediate Past President Marcus M. Maples. Stuart will lead the Birmingham Bar Association throughout 2024.
Sharon D. Stuart focuses her practice on complex commercial and insurance litigation and handles a variety of pharmaceutical and medical device product liability litigation as national, regional, or local counsel. Sharon’s trial experience includes a wide range of business tort claims, contract disputes, commercial and insurance fraud and bad faith suits, and wrongful death cases.
