Christian & Small is pleased to announce that partners Deborah Alley Smith and Kenneth O. Simon have been selected as Fellows of the Birmingham Bar Foundation. They were inducted at the Fellows Dinner held on Saturday, February 15, 2014 at The Club.
The Birmingham Bar Foundation was established in 1994 to support the philanthropic and educational efforts of the Birmingham Bar Association. Fellowship status honors legal professionals who represent a spirit of excellence in their field of practice and who have been uncompromising in their adherence to ethical standards.
Ms. Smith, Managing Partner at Christian & Small, focuses her practice on post judgment and appellate litigation. She is a member of the Alabama Supreme Court’s Advisory Committee on the Alabama Rules of Appellate Procedure and serves on the Board of Directors of the Birmingham Bar Foundation and the Birmingham Bar Volunteer Lawyers Program. She is recognized in The Best Lawyers in America, Benchmark Litigation and Alabama Super Lawyers, in which she has been selected as one of the Top 25 Women Lawyers in Alabama for the last five years.
Mr. Simon is a former Circuit Judge in Jefferson County. He concentrates his practice on corporate governance, governmental affairs, and mediation and arbitration, and he is a member of the National Academy of Distinguished Neutrals and the American College of Civil Trial Mediators. He is listed in The Best Lawyers in America and Alabama Super Lawyers. Simon is a former member of the Executive Committee of the Birmingham Bar Association. He currently serves as Vice chair of the Board of Trustees for the University of South Alabama. He is Board Chairman of Holy Family Cristo Rey Catholic High School and the former Board Chairman of Cornerstone Schools of Alabama.
