Christian & Small supported the Exceptional Foundation’s 10th Annual Chili Cook-Off and participated as a “Spicy Sponsor” in the chili competition held at Brookwood Village on Saturday, March 8, 2014. The firm’s team was up at dawn working diligently under the tent to cook over 20 pounds of meat and chop, slice and grate all the ingredients added to prepare over 10 gallons of chili to serve up for all to taste. Team members included Jordan Wood, Will Thuston, Jon Macklem, Jeremy Carlson, Gracie Gilbert and Katherine and Gracie Hawkins. Unfortunately, despite that we had a proven combination of spices, along with homemade pita chips and cheese muffins, we did not come up with what the judges considered to be the winning chili. And we all learned a lesson on how long beans need to be soaked! Thousands showed up at the event to support the Exceptional Foundation, a 501(c) (3) non-profit organization located in Homewood, Alabama, where individuals with special needs can enjoy social and recreational activities which otherwise would not be available to them.
