With over 20 years of litigation experience in both state and federal courts across Alabama—and more than 70 trials to verdict—Jim Pattillo is at home in the courtroom.

Jim represents some of the nation’s largest insurers, product manufacturers, technology companies, and commercial entities in complex, high-exposure litigation. His cases frequently involve software and application-based platforms at the intersection of product liability, transportation and mobility, last-mile delivery, cybersecurity, and data-breach class actions. His deep experience in first-party insurance litigation—including suspected-fraud matters, SIU-driven investigations, examinations under oath, bad faith, and other extracontractual exposures—has provided the courtroom experience that is the foundation of his practice, and he has presented on these issues at the IASIU Annual Meeting. He routinely handles seven- and eight-figure disputes and is known for obtaining results that exceed client expectations.

Jim brings a technology-forward approach to litigation, focusing on the evolving liability issues that arise from connected products, AI-driven decision systems, and digital platforms. He believes the best outcomes are achieved when every case—regardless of size—is prepared from day one with the discipline and strategy required to win at trial. That preparation consistently drives the most favorable settlements and verdicts.

Recognized by Best Lawyers, Super Lawyers, and other publications, Jim is widely regarded for his leadership in technology, product, insurance, and commercial litigation. He is an active member of organizations including the Defense Research Institute (DRI), the International Association of Special Investigative Units (IASIU), and the Claims and Litigation Management Alliance (CLM), where he frequently speaks and writes on trial strategy, emerging technology risks, and complex litigation trends.
